Jack Leland Parker, 88, of Wichita, Kansas, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025, with family by his side.
Jack was born on October 3, 1936, in Eads, Colorado, to Andrew and Margit Cherry. He was later adopted by Margit's second husband, Oral D Parker. On December 10, 1955, Jack married his first love, Edith Alice Bush, at Friends Church, Chivington, Colorado. They shared 40 years together separated by Edith's untimely passing. A few years later, Jack met and fell in love with Bonnie Gale Maltbie Dowell. They were married at Church of God, Lamar, Colorado, on February 14, 1998.
Jack grew up with a love and appreciation for the land. He spent his younger years helping on the family farm. When opportunities arose, Jack began purchasing his own land and gradually built his own farm and ranch business. Jack was an active member of the Kiowa county farming community for over fifty years. He was always quick to lend a hand and equipment when someone needed help.
Upon retiring from farming in 2008, Jack and Bonnie moved to Wichita, Kansas to be closer to one of his sons. Jack continued enjoying his love of the land by taking nature walks around an area park multiple times a day; and by throwing himself into maintaining two of the best lawns in West Wichita.
Jack had a strong faith, starting each day with daily bible reading and, over the years, was a member and major supporter of the Friends Church, Chivington, Colorado.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his parents, Margit and Oral Parker and Andrew Cherry; his brothers Gene and Paul; and sister Connie Peek. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his sons Steve (Andrea), Wichita, KS; Keith (Mona), Colorado Springs, CO. Grandchildren Ryan, Alpine, WY; Sybrina, Colorado Springs, CO; Andrew, Wichita, KS; and Alison, Denton, TX. Brothers and Sisters, Jo Ellen Bullock, Friend, NE; Pat Jones, Pueblo, CO; Norman Parker, Dighton, KS; Lora Bentley, Garden City, KS; Linda Hagins, Carthage, MO; and Emma Lea (Luke) Vocke, Montrose, CO.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Eads Cemetery (14150 County Road 41 Eads, CO 81036) on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 2:00 MST. Following the service, there will be time for family visitation at Chivington Friends Church (53330 CO-96, Eads, CO 81036).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Cottage (531 N Crestline St, Wichita, KS 67212).
