Jack Dean Semon

Jack Dean Semon, 92, of Westerville, Ohio, formerly of Marietta, Ohio, died on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 in Westerville. He was born on February 24, 1933, in Marietta, Ohio to Donald Walter and Velma Britton Semon.

A proud graduate of Marietta High School, Class of 1951, Jack went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force for over 20 years. His dedication to service was a testament to his character and commitment to his nation. After his military service, Jack found his calling as a finishing carpenter with Harrison Construction, where he worked diligently for 20 years before retiring. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were admired by all who knew him.

He was a man of many interests and talents. In his younger years, Jack was an avid square dancer and roller skater. Jack shared his love of dancing on roller skates with others as a dance skating instructor at a roller rink where he spent many hours skating alongside his wife, Shirley. He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion in Marietta, and an active participant in the Elks Club and Shrine Club in Florida, as well as the Masons and AmVets. He was also a member of the Marietta Moose Club. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing and had a passion for watching old westerns and nature shows, and he loved carpentry, often building tables and various other creations. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, kindness, dedication, and the joy he brought to those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his four sons, Don Semon (Carrie) of Salt Lake City, UT, Mark Semon (Karen) of Westerville, OH, Brian Semon of Gahanna, OH, and Tom Semon (Susan) of Waverly, WV. He leaves behind seven grandchildren, Erin, Linde, Sara, Abbey, Erica, Kayla, and Brandon; and ten great-grandchildren, Micah, Eli, Asher, Elian, Benson, Zane, Aubree, Zaiden, Malcolm and Delaney.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Semon, whom he married on July 15, 1955.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June, 2, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Dale Tornes officiating. Entombment will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will take place at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
