Jack E. Sutherly, 89, of Richwood, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Monarch Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a short illness.
A devoted husband and father, Jack was a generous man with a kind heart. A graduate of West Mansfield High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. Having a strong work ethic, he worked at Bulldog/Siemen’s in Bellefontaine for over 40 years. He also farmed for many years, which brought him great joy. In his free time, he loved hunting and attending car races all over the country.
Born June 15, 1934 in McGuffey, he was the son of the late Melvin and Glesna (Iams) Sutherly. On October 15, 1959, he married his wife of over 58 years, Ola P. (Lockwood) Sutherly, and she preceded him in death on December 5, 2017. In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Steve Sutherly and a sister, Lenore Kempeton.
Jack is survived by his son, Mark Sutherly of Richwood; brothers, Harold Sutherly of Ada, David Sutherly of Bellefontaine and Dwight Sutherly of Hermitage, TN; a sister, Karen Connolly of Lima; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Wilson Funeral Home, Mannasmith Chapel. Burial will follow at the Broadway cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the Union County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
