Jacke' Charlilian McMurtry, age 36, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Joliet, Illinois. Born on February 9, 1989, in Joliet, she was a radiant soul whose presence brought light and joy to all who knew her.

Jacke' grew up in Lockport, Illinois, where her journey began at Fairmount Elementary School and continued through Lockport East High School. She proudly earned her diploma and went on to pursue higher education at Joliet Junior College. There, she not only expanded her academic horizons but also deepened her commitment to community and empowerment. Jacke' was a proud founding member of the first Joliet Junior Chapter of the National Hook-Up of Black Women-a testament to her dedication to uplifting others and creating spaces where people could thrive.

From an early age, Jacke' embraced her faith and accepted Christ as her Savior. She was baptized at Holly Truth Church in Joliet under the loving guidance of the late Pastor Naomi O'Bryan. Her spiritual foundation remained a guiding force throughout her life, shaping her values and the compassionate way she cared for others. Her faith was evident not just in words but in action-in the kindness she extended, the generosity she embodied, and the love she poured into every relationship.

Jacke' will be remembered for her radiant smile, generous heart, and vibrant energy. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel seen and heard. Her selflessness knew no bounds- always ready to help, always putting others before herself.

Her presence lit up the room, not just in what she made, but in how she made others feel-seen, inspired, and uplifted. Whether crocheting intricate patterns, braiding hair with care, knitting cozy pieces, sketching original designs, or crafting her own outfits with flair-Jacke' expressed herself with originality and pride. Her signature flashy nails and hairstyles were more than just style statements; they were reflections of her bold spirit and joyful personality.

She also had a curious mind and a love for challenges. Puzzles, sudoku, and word searches were among her favorite pastimes-activities that reflected her sharp intellect and playful nature. Jacke' dreamed big; among those dreams was a vision of becoming a game designer and developer-a goal that spoke to both her creativity and desire to bring joy to others through technology.

Yet above all else, Jacke's greatest joy came from spending time with her two boys. Jethro and Jah'Kari was her whole world. Becoming a mother to these two boys gave Jacke' purpose to improve her life and health for the sake of her children, sisters, family, and friends. Every gathering became brighter with her laughter and warmth. Her love was boundless, and the memories she created will be treasured forever.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her father, Charley C. McMurtry Sr.; her two beloved children, Jethro "Jet" McMurtry and Jah'Kari "Jay K" McMurtry; her siblings Gary Poe, Anthony McMurtry, Simon McMurtry, Tracie (McMurtry) Crowder, Naomi McMurtry, Helen McMurtry, Rebekah (McMurtry) Parrish, Janella McMurtry, and Jessica McMurtry; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.

Jacke' was preceded in death by her mother Jacqueline "Poe" McMurtry; her brother Charley C. McMurtry Jr.; her grandparents Beatrice (Putman) Poe and Charley Poe; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Joliet Junior Chapter of the National Hook-Up of Black Women, Second Baptist Church, Meal Train volunteers, and everyone who offered flowers, donations, prayers, or acts of kindness during this difficult time. A special thank you goes to her beloved cousin Gabrielle "Brie" Poe for the unwavering love and support she provided.

Jacke's legacy is one of love-creative love expressed through art and design; nurturing love shown through family bonds; enduring love carried forward by all who were touched by her spirit.

May Jacke's soul rest in eternal peace. May those who mourn find comfort in knowing that her joyful spirit lives on in every act of kindness inspired by her memory.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." - Psalm 147:3

This verse reminds us that even in sorrow there is healing. Jacke's life was a gift-her legacy will continue to shine through the love she gave and the lives she touched.
