Kathryn Grace Gnatek

(nee McGownd)

Age 69, lifelong resident of Lockport passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, with her devoted husband William "Bill" by her side. She received an associate's degree from Joliet Junior College. Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Frankfort. Kathyn was a devout Sunday school teacher for many years, was a advocate for children, had a strong faith, and had a heart purer than gold. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and researching her family history. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceded in death by her beloved son, Shane Alan Miller-Gnatek (2005); her mother, Helen (nee McKlusky) McGownd; a sister, Lisa Sniegowski and her loving niece.

Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, William J. "Bill" Gnatek; her father, John McGownd a brother, Dave (Rhonda) McGownd; and many cherished nieces, nephews, her church family, and dear friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kathryn' s family would be appreciated.

Cremation Rites have been respectfully addressed.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 22712 Wolf Rd. Frankfort, IL 60423 from 10:00am until time of Memorial Service at 11:00am with President Clinton Giese III officiating. Inurnment will take place at Lockport City Cemetery at a later date.
