Age 90, late of Lockport, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born in Naperville and was a lifelong resident of Lockport. A Proud United States Army Veteran. Retired from Montgomery Wards where he was a dedicated sales manager for many years, retiring in 1994. An avid fisherman and hunter, he enjoyed many fishing and hunting trips to Canada. In his later years he loved going to the Casinos, and painting. He was a loyal fan and supporter of youth sports. A Chicago White Sox fan. Above all else he cherished spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Verna Mae Haas (2024); daughter in infancy Andrea Haas (1975) his parents, Alexander and Valeria (nee Burcenski) Haas; two brothers, Ken and Alan Haas.
Survived by his five loving children, Pam (Dan) Castello, Sue (Larry) Mathias, Steven Haas, Tim (Kim) Haas, and Laurie (Dan) Thomas; 10 adored grandchildren, Amanda (Charlie) Irizarry, Kevin (Megan) Castello, Allison (Brad) Johnson, Julie (Nick Meyer) Mathias, Rebeca Haas, Brendan (Emily McCann) Haas, Brooklynn (Jared) Jennings, Brody Haas, Natalie Thomas and Gabby Thomas; and nine great grandchildren, Zoe and Sam Irizarry, Callie, Cole and Cade Castello, Nolan and Daphne Johnson, Raelee and Hartlee Jennings; his dear caregivers, Madelyn and Oyin and many loved family members and friends.
Per Norbert's wishes Cremation Rites were respectfully addressed.
Inurnment for Norbert and his beloved wife, Verna Mae will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood at a later date.
