Waco Memorial Funeral Home, Cemetery & CremationsJackie Glenn Beard, age 73, passed from this earth on October 14, 2025 and is now resting peacefully.
He was born in Waco to Bobby Gene and Doris Jean Beard at Waco Hillcrest Memorial Hospital on January 14, 1952.
Jack graduated from University High School in 1970. After earning an accounting degree at Baylor, he spent the early years of his career working in Georgia, Colorado & California eventually making his way back to Texas. Here in Waco, he worked as an insurance and mortgage accountant. He then worked for a Pizza Inn franchise as a manager until retiring. After a year off, in 2015 he accepted a part time offer from the YMCA to assist with financial reporting.
Jack was an enigma to many who knew him (and he liked that way).
Among his interests through his life were golf, bowling, basketball referee, country dancing, chuckwagon cooking (i.e. Kent Rollins) and Baylor Basketball (season tickets for over 20 years to men & women’s games). There were concerts of various music styles and traveling broadway shows. Our last vacation was to Pawhuska, Oklahoma to visit all things Pioneer Woman. He enjoyed reading and the daily challenge of Sudoku and Wordle.
His favorite sport was baseball. He began playing as a child at Southern Little League with his dad coaching on some teams. After playing throughout his youth, his passion for the sport eventually lead him to become an umpire for little league and high school games all around the central Texas region.
Jack spent recent evenings watching the baseball playoff games. He now has an uninterrupted view for the finals.
He loved our grandkids and was there to support them at football, basketball, baseball, softball games and music performances. They brought joy to his life. There was never a dull moment with this man. He had a heart of gold and a sharp sense of humor. He was kind, loving, honest, loyal, and a protector of those he loved.
Jack is survived by his partner in life Virginia Salsbury and family Erika, Dawn, Brian, Chris, and grandchildren Rhett, Clare, Sawyer, Beau.
