Jackie Broeder, 71, of Grant, NE, passed away at home on October 5, 2024.
Jackie was born and raised on March 1, 1953, in North Platte, NE, to Jearld M. and Betty Ruth (George) Smolik. She graduated with the Class of 1972 from North Platte High School.
On July 23, 1973, Jackie married Stephen "Steve" E. Broeder in Wichita, Kansas. Together, Steve and Jackie began their marriage in North Platte before moving to Grant, where they built the last 38 years of their 51 years together. Jackie was known as a dedicated homemaker and a selfless caregiver, always putting others first. Her hands were never idle-she lovingly cared for her garden, helped out at funeral dinners, made food for church gatherings, and cared for the elderly in her community, even ironing their clothes and mowing their lawns. Jackie had a dry sense of humor and was known for her wit. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, gardening, and, above all, cherished her time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her son, James Daniel; her parents; brother, Don; and her granddaughter, Makayla Larsen.
Survivors include her husband, Steve Broeder of Grant; her children, Mindy Dickinson, Jody (Dan) Larsen, and Chris Broeder; daughter-in-law, Angie Broeder; her grandchildren, Jakelynn Broeder (fiancé Braydon Caldwell), Kenna Dickinson, Brianna Larsen, Micheal Broeder, Alivia Broeder, and Kaylie Broeder; her sister, Donna Reiff of Cheyenne, WY; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be on October 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grant E-Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating. A memorial has been established in Jackie's memory at Adams Bank & Trust. Condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
