Jackie “Wayne” Emert passed away on February 28, 2026, and went to Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for his generous spirit and the love he shared with family and friends.
Wayne proudly served in the United States Army and Army Reserves for 22 years before retiring. He was a 50-year member of Holston Masonic Lodge #559 and spent many happy hours bass fishing as a member of the 79ers Bass Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ethel Emert; his first wife, Norma Emert; his wife, Joann Harrison Emert; his daughter, Tammy Caudill; and his brothers, Eddie and Roy Emert.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his stepdaughter, Christy Gambrell and husband Mark Gambrell; his granddaughter, Whitney Brown and husband Garrison Brown; his nephew, David Emert; his best friend, Travis Shelley; and many extended family members and friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Leslie and Michelle with Adoration Health, VA Mountain Home, Dr. Sean Watson, and the entire medical team for their exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 4 at 12:00 PM at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Blountville.
