Mona LaRue Looney Emert was born on March 18, 1942, in Stephenville, Texas, to Willadean White and Richard Looney. She went to be with The Lord on January 20, 2026. She grew up in Big Spring, Texas and graduated from Big Spring High School in 1960. On March 3, 1962, Mona married Bud Emert, the love of her life. They shared 63 wonderful years together, building a life grounded in love, faith, and family. Bud tells people Mona "carried the ball' and took really good care of him for the first 50 years of their marriage while he finished his education and worked on his career, then he "carried the ball" and took care of her the last 13 years.

Mona was an incredibly talented seamstress and a wonderful cook, which were gifts she lovingly shared with those around her. She had an infectious smile. She also enjoyed a successful career in the packaging industry, working for Gaylord and later Packaging Corporation of America. She excelled in her work and was well respected, forming lasting relationships with coworkers and clients alike.

Mona was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Sunnyvale, where she especially cherished her Sunday School class and the fellowship it brought her.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, Willadean White and Richard Looney.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Bud Emert; her son, Ron Emert, and his wife, Sally; her grandsons, Blake Emert and his wife, Hannah, and Cole Emert and his wife, Gayle; and her four great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Savannah, Abby, and Dean Emert. She is also survived by her brothers, Randy Looney and his wife, Vicky, and Gary Moore. Additionally, she is survived by nieces, nephews and lots of fun cousins.

Mona will be remembered for her kindness, her dedication to family, her strong work ethic, and her unwavering faith. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations who were blessed to know her.
