Samuel Johnson, 74, of Garland Texas passed away on January 29th, 2026 following a long fought battle with cancer. He was comforted by his loving wife Mary until he went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Samuel was born on February 22nd, 1951 to his late parents Samuel and Edna Johnson in Fort Worth, TX. He was also the loving older brother to siblings Billy, Donna, and Linda Johnson. Samuel, or Sonny as he was known to friends, graduated from Garland High School in 1969 before going on to join the U.S. Airforce. On September 19th, 1970 Samuel married his high school sweetheart Mary at First Baptist Church of Rowlett. They later welcomed their daughter Denise Ann in 1971 and their son Samuel Brian in 1975.
Samuel proudly served his country for 24 years as a telephone operating systems engineer before retiring as a master sergeant. He earned his AAS in Electronic Systems Technology during his time in service and after his retirement he moved home to be near family in Texas finishing his Bachelors of Science at Southern Illinois University. He was proudly baptized at Zion Church by pastor Darryl Hall in January 2007 and was a man of great faith. Samuel loved the Lord and studied his word daily; he could often be found praying for loved ones and extended grace and kindness to all in need. He truly lived the gospel telling all he met about the Lord.
He is survived in death by his wife Mary Beth, Son Brian and Daughter in Law Mary, daughter Denise, and sisters Donna and Linda. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23
