MONETTE - Jackie "JR" Lawrence, 44, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. JR was born Sept. 15, 1980, in Paragould, to Jackie Lee Sr. and Freida Mae Skaggs Lawrence.
Throughout his life, JR was a mechanic and a farmhand. JR loved to hunt, fish, run his chainsaw and tinker on anything. He especially loved his grandbabies.
JR was a U.S. Army veteran, a former member of the Arkansas National Guard and a member of the Monette American Legion. JR was proud to serve his country.
He was a strong-spoken individual who would give anyone he met the shirt off his back. JR was a loved man who will be missed by many.
He is survived by two sons, Logan (Meagan) Lawrence and Landon (Hannah Nichols) Lawrence, both of Leachville; his parents, Jackie and Fredia Lawrence of Monette; one brother, Joseph (Erika) Lawrence of Florida; one sister, Jamie (Kenny) Silvey of Missouri; two granddaughters, MaryElla Lawrence and Millie Kate Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also survived by his close and dear friends, who all held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Paul and Geraldine Davie.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 2, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with the Rev. Ernest Cornish officiating. Burial will follow in Macy Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jeff Davidson, Robert Corter, Braden Drury, Nicholas Cagle, Woody Nunally, James Norwood, Bobby Tucker and Bobby Nichols.
