It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Kurker, who passed
away peacefully on Sunday, October 19th, surrounded by the deep love of her family.
Jackie was born on October 3rd, 1943, in Indianapolis. She was a proud graduate of Ladywood
School in Indianapolis. Although she spent most of her life in her hometown, she also enjoyed
living in several cities over the years, including Fort Wayne, St. Louis, Omaha, Roanoke,
Virginia, and Bonita Springs, Florida.
A talented and certified ASID Interior Designer, Jackie dedicated much of her career to the
Home Furnishings and Design Industry—a field she truly loved. Her greatest joy, however, was
being a mother to her four children (Mike, Chris, Lisa, and Kim) and a stepmother to four more
(Dawn, Sheri, Dan, and Kevin). Together, they were the “Eight is Enough” Kurker/Meyers
family—a beautiful blessing that filled Jackie’s heart with pride and love.
Jackie was preceded in death by Thomas (Tom) Kurker and Robert (Bob) Meyers, as well as her
parents, Kay Gates and Howard Scott. She is survived by her four siblings—Michael Scott,
Richard Scott, Marcia Lieber, and Sheri Gregory—along with many cherished grandchildren,
nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
Those who knew Jackie will remember her for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering love
for others. She was easy to love and always accepting. As a mother, she exemplified
unconditional love—always present, always giving advice and wisdom when needed. Her
infectious laugh, radiant smile, and daily words of “I love you” touched everyone around her.
She loved to hold hands, give hugs, and make people feel seen and loved.
Jackie was so proud of her family and the values she instilled in them. She lived each day guided
by her faith in God, a spirit of generosity, and a belief in treating others with compassion. She
was the heart of our family and will forever be missed.
We love you, Mom. You will live within us always—until the day we are reunited in heaven.
May Jesus, and all the faithfully departed loved ones, greet you with open arms.
