Jackie Layne Mitchell. 64 of the Tunnel Hill Community in Fleming County, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville, Kentucky with his family by his side. He was born February 8, 1961, in Fleming County, Kentucky to the late Elmer "Buddy" and Louise Fryman Mitchell.
Jackie was a retired heavy equipment operator and a 1979 Graduate of Fleming County High School. He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan and enjoyed all sports. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Doyle Mitchell. Two brothers, Ronnie Mitchell and Larry Dean Mitchell. Also, five sisters, Anna Bailey, Barbara Watkins, Connie Cox, Wanda Cox and Dixie Wilcoxson.
Survivors include his son Steven Layne Mitchell and his wife Gabby. His daughter, Julie Nicole Mitchell Pollitt and her husband Clay, one sister Amy Mitchell Emmons, Two brothers: Donnie Mitchell and his wife Crystal and Danny Mitchell. Grandchildren: Mallory, Zaylee Amelia and Theo. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 27, 2025, in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Brother Dean Brewer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.
Visitation at the Price Brothers Funeral Home is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
Pall bearers will be Tony Watkins, Mike Watkins, Brian Cox, Chris Cox, Dylan Watkins, Cord Watkins, Jason Mitchell and Tyler Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers the family has ask that contributions be made to the Price Brothers Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
