Services for Jackie Ruth Smith will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Meadow First Baptist Church with Buddy Hamm officiating. 

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Meadow First Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. 

Jackie Ruth Carroll was born to Dulice and Arlene Carroll on September 3, 1943, in Brownfield. She was raised in the Meadow Community and stayed there her whole life until age 16 when she followed her husband James Smith to Gunnison, Colorado. They moved back to Texas two years later. Jackie worked along side James at Cotton Producers Gin for several years. She later worked for Dr. J.M. Rankin, Dr. T.J. Holmes and Dr. Linda Robins and later for Covenant Medical System. Jackie loved her family greatly, especially the grandkids. She very rarely missed anything they did in their extracurricular activities 

Jackie passed away on February 4, 2024, in her home peacefully. She was preceded in death by her parents Dulice and Arlene Carroll; in-laws, Francille Price and J.W. Smith; brother, Don Carroll and a brother-in-law Bill Johnson. 

Jackie is survived by her husband of more than 63 years, James Smith of Meadow; daughter, Natalie Howard and husband Wren of Meadow; son, James Keith Smith and Jennifer of Lubbock; daughter, Kelli Kieth and Lance of Canyon. Grandchildren, Dustin and Summer Wilkes, Ashlie and Shane Zant, Stormy and Alyssa Howard, A.J. and Shelbye Howard, Tester Smith, Ella James Smith, Rhett and Kelsi Richardson, Landry Kieth; great-grandchildren, Averie, Kallie and Charlie Zant, Dawson, Jax, Axel and Deacon Wilkes, Kyren and Kamber Howard, River and Colt Herman, Rhylie and Kyler Howard, Rafe, Masyn and Merritt Richardson and Woodrow Kieth; sister, Janelda Cabe; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson of Happy and Pam Carroll of Lubbock, and numerous nieces and nephews.
