Jackie Windall Smith

Jackie Smith, age 83, passed away peacefully at his home on November 16, 2025.

Jackie was a devoted door greeter at Birchwood Church of God, where his warm smile and kind heart welcomed countless members and visitors over the years. He cherished his family more than anything in the world, and his grandchildren were truly the light of his life. Jackie loved fishing, hunting, farming, tending to his cattle, and working in the hayfields-simple joys that reflected his hardworking and humble spirit. He retired from Georgia Pacific after 25 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marilyn Anita Myers Smith; his parents, John Tilmon Smith and Stella Mae Hixson Smith; his brothers, Tilmon Smith, Darwin Smith, and Howard Smith; his sister, Ollie Louise Smith; and Cayla Tremble, the fiancée of his grandson, Cameron Wilson.

Jackie is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Tommy) Davis of Birchwood, TN; siblings Billy (Reba) Smith of Birchwood, TN, James (Ann) Smith of Cleveland, TN, Walter Smith of Georgetown, TN, Robbie Turner of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, Eunella McGill of Rossville, GA, and Joyce (Bobby) Webb of Jasper, TN; grandchildren Tenisha (Jesse Clute) Miller of Birchwood, TN, and Cameron Wilson of Birchwood, TN; great-grandchildren Avery Miller of Birchwood, TN, and Cayson Wilson of Cleveland, TN; along with several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made directly to the funeral home to help cover funeral expenses.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Hospice, Daphne Fletcher, Becky Richard, and Chaplain Rick Knight for the exceptional care, comfort, and compassion they provided to Jackie in his final days.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at Companion Funeral Home located at 2412 Georgetown Rd NW Cleveland, TN 37311 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow at McInturff Cemetery.
