Jackie Lee Thompson, of Altamont, Ks went home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 23,2024.
He was born in Liberty, Ks on January 17, 1941, the son of Harry and Mary (Clark) Thompson. He graduated from Field Kindley High School in 1959. He served in the Air Force from 1959 – 1963 as an Aircraft Mechanic. He was stationed in Japan and finished up in Maine.
On May 21, 1965, he married the love of his life, Ethel Mae Peyton. They were blessed with 3 sons; Jackie Lee Thompson Jr (wife Holli), Brian Thompson (wife JayAnn), and Montey Shane Thompson. He also had 3 step-children: Pamela Frye (husband Terry), Ricky Thompson (wife Janice), and Becky Ingram (partner Tim Montgomery). He had 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
Jackie loved woodworking and wood carving. In his younger days he did a lot of fishing and campin with his family and they always went on a grand vacation every year. He enjoyed fixing things and working in his shed. He could fix anything!
He was active in the Altamont Senior Center and was president for a few years. He was a member of Christ’s Church of Labette County and always enjoyed being the door greeter. He loved the Lord and studying his Bible.
When he moved to the farm in Altamont, he liked having cattle and chicken’s and helping get all the chores done.
He was employed at Sherwin Williams Refinery in Coffeyville, Ks for 20 years, and later worked for Med-Source and retired from Amazon.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ethel, two sons – Montey and Ricky, both of his parents, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. He is survived by 1 brother, Harold Thompson (wife Martha) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A special thanks to the nurses, aids, and others from Harry Hynes Hospice for their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, that family suggest memorials or donations to Harry Hynes Hospice or Christ’s Church of Labette County. Contributions may be left with or mailed in care of Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel.
A graveside celebration of Jackies life will be held Monday July 29, 2024, at 10 am at Restlawn Cemetery in the Veterans Garden just of Cline Road in Coffeyville, Ks. The family will receive friends on Sunday July 28, 2024, from 3-5 pm at Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel, 2405 Woodland Ave., Coffeyville.
