DOERUN, GA – Jacky Edgar Powell, Sr., 70, of Doerun, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Tallahassee Memorial Health Care in Tallahassee, Florida.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church with the Reverend Todd Brooks officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday February 28, 2025, at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
Casketbearers will be Joey Sanders, David Powell, Darrell Sammons, Wes Courtney, Payton Brooks and Jason Bullard.
Born May 14, 1954, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of Iverson Leonard Powell and Marjorie Louise Jones Powell of Doerun. Mr. Jacky was a small engine repairman with over 40 years of experience. If you need something fixed, he was the man to get it done. He was a great husband, father and friend who loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Jacky enjoyed racing and going fishing and was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church in Worth County, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his precious grandchildren, Josie Elizabeth Powell birthday March 30, 2012, Infant Courtney 2013.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Peggy Dixon Powell; children, Jody Powell, Julie Powell Courtney and husband Wes; grandchildren, Tatum Salter, Landon Powell, Lucy Courtney; parents, Iverson Leonard Powell and Marjorie Louise Jones Powell; siblings, Lenny Powell, Jayne Bullard, Donnie Powell; special friends, Shirley and Joey Sanders; special fur baby, Spud; several other extended family members and friends.
Cobb Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
