Jacob Brandon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kilpatrick Funeral Home - West Monroe on Dec. 28, 2022.
Jacob Andrew Brandon was gifted to us on September 17, 2004 and was taken far too soon on December 24, 2022.
Lovingly raised by his father, Randy Joe Brandon Jr., and his grandparents, Randy and Judy Brandon, Jacob grew to be a light in the lives of all who knew him. He was a devoted son and grandson and dearly loved his family. He was the oldest of three grandsons, and was a protective companion to both Nathan, his younger brother, and Colston, his close cousin, as they enjoyed many boyhood (and manhood) adventures together. Jacob was a gentle soul who had a warm smile that would capture your heart immediately and gave the kind of hugs you couldn't easily forget. He was humble, never asking for much, and always grateful for what he had. He donned a vintage style, often wearing thrift store finds that perfectly reflected his "old soul". To his family he was a priceless treasure that was loved beyond measure.
Jacob was an overcomer. He never let any disadvantage, disappointment, or obstacle keep him from working hard and loving greatly. As a high school student, Jacob worked late into the night at Chic-Fil-a and Denny's while still maintaining his rigorous studies. A driven and accomplished student, he recently graduated with many honors and accolades from West Monroe High School. Jacob was a prestigious Capstone graduate, a Scholar's Banquet honoree, and was a member of the WMHS AP club, the History Club, the 30+ club, Classical League, and the Rebel Nation student section. While in high school, he acquired a love of poetry and literature that would become a passion and pastime. His hard work earned him a full-ride scholarship to multiple universities, but of those offers, he ultimately chose Louisiana State University for his future. He began this fall at LSU Ogden Honors College as an anthropology major, hoping to continue his studies through to earn a doctorate and become a college professor.
In addition to his studies, Jacob excelled in his musical gifts. A talented musician, he played the violin for both the West Ridge Middle School and West Monroe High School orchestras. His friends and family recall his love of sitting around and playing his guitar and even a harmonica at times. Most recently, his friends at LSU shared that at the end of the day, he would unwind by playing his guitar in the dorms. He enjoyed his musical gifts and didn't mind sharing it for others to enjoy.
Above all, Jacob was a young man of integrity with a kind heart, a loyal spirit, and a genuine love for others. Jacob's goodness was evident in the great friendships he had. He was quick to help anyone in a time of need, was a trusted confidante, always empathetic toward the hurting, and gave the best advice. He was a great defender of others, even ones not in the room. He brought humor and the best laugh to every gathering. His generous love for others was reciprocated; he was well-loved, admired, adored, and respected by all who were BLESSED to know him.
Jacob knew the true living God. His father made sure he knew the importance of scripture, of assembly with believers, and a personal walk. Jacob's life displayed love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, all fruits of the Spirit. These attributes are pure evidence of his own walk and point directly to the source of that generous love he was able to share with us all, the never-ending well of love and life through Jesus Christ.
Jacob was preceded in death by his PawPaw, Randy Brandon Sr., his great grandparents, Charles and Jane Brandon, Mary Eldredge, and H.B. Griffin. He is survived by his father, Randy Joe Brandon Jr., his brother, Nathan Brandon, his Mimi, Judy Brandon, his uncle and aunt, Stephen and Beth Brandon, and cousins, Colston Brandon, Katie Hendrix (Troy, and children, Blakely, Thomas, and Norah), and Tyler Berry (Montana, and daughter, Tinsley), as well as a large extended family and countless friends who dearly loved him.
Services will be held on Saturday December 31, 2022 at 2:00pm at Apostolic Restoration Church in West Monroe, with visitation directly preceding from 12:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M.. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Brandon, Nathan Brandon, Colston Brandon, Tracy Strange, Konner Creel, Keaton Creel, Cooper Cottrell, and Reagan Garrett.
