Jacob "Jake" Anthony Carter, lovingly known as "Grasshopper" to those closest to him, passed away unexpectedly on August 12, 2025, at the age of 30. A lifelong resident of High Point, Jake brought strength, passion, and heart to everyone whose life he touched.
Jake worked as a Heavy Machinery Technician at Linder, where his skill and dedication earned the respect of coworkers and friends alike. Beyond his work, Jake was defined by the way he loved - fiercely, openly, and without hesitation. He wore his heart on his sleeve and was unwavering in his devotion to his family and friends.
He had a deep love for MMA, tattoos, and great food - and nothing, in his opinion, could beat a good Manwich. His humor, his stubborn determination, and his ability to make others feel valued will be deeply missed.
Jake leaves behind his beloved wife, Destiny Carter; his mother, Kelly Carter; his father, Justin "JJ" Carter and his wife Patricia Carter; his sister, Allison Carter, and her fiancé, Justin Wood; grandparents, Arno and Darlene Schadt; as well as numerous cousins and friends who became family.
A celebration of Jake's life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 18, 2025, in the High Point Chapel of Wright Funerals-Cremations.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
His family asks that instead of flowers, you honor Jake by doing something he'd love - enjoy a meal with someone who means the world to you, tell them you love them, and live with your heart on your sleeve.
Jake's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, loved him, and were lucky enough to call him family or friend.
