COLFAX – Lela May Barlow Busey, 90, died Friday, September 12, 2025, at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro.

She was born November 5, 1934, in Los Angeles County, California, and was the daughter of the late Warren Leland and Alice May Blackney Barlow. She received her bachelor's degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, and earned her Master's degree from Stanford University. Lela was an elementary school educator in California, and following her retirement, was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She attended St. Pau8l's Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem and enjoyed singing, music and playing bridge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Busey.

Lela is survived by her daughter, Kristina Leslie Jackson and husband, Jonathan "Jon;" and three grandchildren, Kylie Jackson, Luke Jackson and Jake Jackson, all of High Point.

A memorial service celebrating Lela's life will be held at River Landing at Sandy Ridge at a later date and will be announced.
