Jacob M. Dufrene, Sr.

Jacob Michael Dufrene, Sr. of Luling, Louisiana passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the age of 49. Jacob was born on January 7, 1976, in Vacherie, Louisiana. He passed away hours before his beloved father, Lawrence “L.J.” Dufrene, Jr. on the same day, united forever. Jacob is survived by his mother, Marie Sally Dufrene. Jacob is also survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dana Oncale Bergeron Dufrene; his loving children, Jacob Dufrene, Jr. (Erin), Luke Bergeron (Kaitlyn) and Zachary Bergeron; his grandchildren Ayla Bergeron and Baby Boy Dufrene; and his siblings, Sheila Dufrene (Patrick), Terri Dufrene (Murray) and Pebbles Johnson. He is the son-in-law of Felicie Talamo Oncale and the late Ray J. Oncale. He will be missed by all who knew him, especially his Nanny, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Jacob is preceded in death by his beloved, loyal dog Champ. He was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. From a young age, Jacob shared a special bond with his father, spending countless hours side by side on the water. Fishing was more than a pastime; it was where conversations were had and lessons were passed down. Fishing was his passion as well as his special time with God. Jacob was a member of the South Lafourche Bassmasters Club for many years where he was at the top of his game. If you asked his fellow fishermen, they would all say, “Jacob Dufrene is here. Oh, hope you brought your A-game.” In addition to fishing, Jacob enjoyed college football, especially rooting for his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards and cooking. Jacob was employed as a Wastewater Operations Manager for St. Charles Parish for over 25 years. Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at God’s House, 7301 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 9:30AM until 12 PM followed by Funeral Services at the church on Saturday at 12PM.
