Jacob Hanke Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home - Queen-Boggs Chapel - Centralia on Jan. 19, 2026.
Jacob Edwin Hanke, age 43, of Richview, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
He was born Saturday, June 5, 1982, in Centralia, a son of Carolyn Joann (Wacker) and the late Brian Thomas Hanke, Sr.
Jacob, a larger-than-life personality with a heart of gold, leaves behind a trail of laughter, memories, and loved ones. Jacob, who had worked as a semi driver and farmer, spent his days working hard and his free time playing harder. He was a golf enthusiast, a Texas Hold'em shark, and a passionate hunter, but his true joy was spending time with family and friends, spreading joy and mayhem wherever he went. Jacob's trademark was his infectious smile - a beaming grin that lit up every room and let you know he was there. A jokester, and even a little bit cocky, Jacob wore his heart on his sleeve and wasn't afraid to show his love - often by teasing and tormenting those closest to him. Despite his habit of running a little late, he was always there when it counted, with a listening ear and a helping hand. Jacob's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and in the countless memories of laughter, adventure, and good times shared. He may have been a little rough around the edges, but his heart was pure gold, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife- Rebekah Ann (Gullen) Hanke of Walnut Hill; son- Caiden Hanke of Irvington; daughter- Mya Hanke of Centralia; mother- Carolyn Hanke of Centralia; brother- Brian Thomas Hanke, Jr. of Keyesport; sister- Terra (Tim) Eckhoff of Salem; sister- Tina (Brandon) Szopinski of Richview; aunt- Rita Hilsher of Irvington; Caiden's girlfriend and their baby on the way- Aemilia Diaver and baby Ashton on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents- Orville and Ruth Wacker, and paternal grandparents- Ken and Alice Daugherty.
