Son, father, brother, and volunteer firefighter Jacob Jenkin's love of life didn't end with his death. Jacob passed away on July 19th, 2024, at the age of 43 unexpectedly. He will continue to be honored by his friends and family, all of whom adored him unconditionally.
Jacob graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1999 and was currently employed by Green for Life Environmental. Throughout high school he was an avid wrestler and was so proud that his children are carrying that legacy. He spent time coaching at the high school level in his adulthood and was an active member of his community. However, those around him knew that his highest honor, and one of his greatest achievements, was serving on the Garfield Township Fire department as a volunteer firefighter.
Those who knew Jacob would describe him as being loyal, dependable, goofy, and an all-around good human. He was an active member of Spencer Church of Christ and through his faith he was able to find comfort and peace, even at his most difficult times. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily life and found enjoyment in being outside, kayaking, and helping anyone in need. He was also an animal lover and would spoil his two dogs, Gunner and Hemi.
Jacob is survived by his children Danny Jenkins-Wildfong, James Jenkins-Wildfong, Abigail Jenkins-Wildfong; his parents David Jenkins, Kelly Bogart; Grandparents Dan and Clara Porter, Betty Bogart; and siblings Jason Jenkins and Brittany Gustafson. He is also survived by his nephews Christopher, Kyle, and Kaleb Jenkins, and niece Leilah Gustafson. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Lynn Jenkins, Dale Bogart; Sister Carmen Gooden. He also has countless cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who loved and will miss him dearly as well.
Jacob's life will be honored and celebrated on Monday, July 29th, 2024, at Kalkaska Church of Christ. Viewing for family members will be from 11AM-12PM, friends and colleagues from 12PM-1PM, and service to follow at 1pm. Luncheon will immediately follow the service at Kalkaska Church of Christ. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
