Jacob Kohl Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery Funeral Home on Nov. 7, 2024.
Jacob William Kohl, 36, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories.
He is survived by his loving wife, Chrystal and their daughter, Coraline Kohl both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his father, Todd Kohl; and his mother, Dawn Koffron; siblings, Chloe Kohl, Ashley Koffron, Autumn (Michael) Lomack, Tristin Kohl, and Zach Kohl, a grandmother, JoAnn Kohl; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Dawn Kohl, and his grandfather, Jon Kohl.
Jacob was born on September 21, 1988, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Todd Kohl and Dawn Schade. Jacob had been a writer at heart since the age of 9 and aspired to go to school and pursue that love. After he graduated from George Washington High School, he attended the University of Iowa as an English and Japanese major. Spending March to December of 2010 in Japan at Chukyo University. He met many fellow exchange students, and he continued to keep in touch with some of them throughout his life.
He was employed at Great America in Information Technology. He found the love of his life in Chrystal Shaver at the age of 21, and they made it official on November 10, 2017, in Central City, Iowa. His chaotic and playful sense of humor was a great fit to her more serious side that kept him on schedule. With the birth of Coraline their family blossomed. Jacob found endless delight in watching their daughter grow, learn, and become an awesome young lady.
He loved his people above all and often said his love language was food. When Jacob cooked it wasn't about what he was making, it was about who he was feeding. He enjoyed comics, video games, writing, cooking, and especially time with his family.
Jacob's presence in our lives will be sorely missed. When you think of Jacob, celebrate the good memories you have of him. He filled the lives of those he touched with his exuberant strength, positivity, love, and laughter. Jacob will forever be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.
