Jacob Keith Owen Ketchum, of
McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in
McAlester, Oklahoma.
The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Choate Prairie Cemetery in Indianola, Oklahoma. Rev. Mike Perry and Rev. Bart Effinger will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Josh Thames, Kirby Ketchum, Jacob "L.J." Cunningham, Kayleb Ketchum, Bill Montgomery, Jr., Jacob Talley, and Michael Ivey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Shropshire, Wyatt Shropshire, Gary Romine, and Chad Sager.
Jacob was born on August 3, 1998, in
McAlester, Oklahoma to Franklin Neil Ketchum and Tammy (Moore) Ketchum.
Jacob graduated from Indianola High School in 2016. His strong work ethic and commitment to serving his community were evident through his dedicated service at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary, where he worked for three years as a prison guard. He later joined Berry Global Plastics Corporation as a machinist, contributing his skills and dedication for another three years.
Above all, Jacob cherished his role as a father to his beloved son, Nash Presley Franklin Ketchum. His love for Nash was immeasurable, and he took immense pride in being a dad. Jacob's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member of the Indianola Baptist Church, where he was baptized and found solace and strength in his beliefs.
Jacob's enthusiasm for life was matched by his diverse interests. An avid gamer, he found joy and creativity in building his own games through coding, an endeavor that showcased his intelligence and passion for technology. His sense of humor was one of his most memorable traits; he loved to playfully tease and share a good-natured joke, always aiming to bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
Embodying the true essence of the country lifestyle he adored, Jacob could often be found with a fishing pole in hand, enjoying the tranquility of nature. His love for music was profound, and he expressed his faith through the melodies and lyrics that resonated with him deeply. In the kitchen, Jacob's culinary talents came to life as he cooked for friends and family, sharing not just a meal, but his love and warmth as well.
Jacob's legacy is one of love, laughter, and faith. His impact on the lives he touched will continue to be felt, and his memory will be cherished forever. As we say goodbye to Jacob, we celebrate a life lived with purpose, joy, and an unwavering commitment to the things that truly matter.
Jacob is survived by his mother, Tammy Ketchum of the home; his son, Nash Presley Franklin Ketchum; mother of his child, Victoria Diana Albanese; grandmother, Minnie Crenshaw of McAlester; sister, Katie Talley and husband, Jacob of McAlester; brothers, Kayleb Ketchum and his fiancé, Jessica Simpson of McAlester, Shane Moore and wife, Miranda of Ft. Cobb, Travis Moore and wife, Ginger of Stratford; uncles, Billy Ketchum and wife, Lisa of Ulan, Robbie Moore and wife, Lori of Albion; aunt, Kimberly Moore of Big Cedar; great-uncle, Don Ketchum and wife, Alice of McAlester; along with numerous other family members and friends.
Jacob is preceded in death by his father, Franklin Neil Ketchum; uncle, Kendall Owen Ketchum; paternal grandfather, Franklin D. "Pookie" Ketchum; maternal grandparents, Robert Moore and Linda Moore.
