Jacob “Jake” Henry Rubright, 27, of New Franklin, died Wednesday November 27 at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Jake was born March 21, 1997 in Medina, Ohio to Eric Rubright and Joyce {McMahon} Holmes.
Jake Graduated from Chippewa High School in 2015, he was a member of the Chippewa trap shooting club for several years. He played the trumpet in the High School marching band for 4 years. He attended the University of Akron from 2015 to 2019, and he then graduated from the Ohio Peace Officers Training Academy at the University of Akron in 2020, and was sworn in to the Summa Health Police Department in 2021.
Jake worked at Lowe’s for 6 years from 2015 to 2021. Jacob was a Police Officer for the Summa Heath Police Department for almost 4 years where he achieved the rank of Corporal. He then moved to Deadwood, South Dakota for his dream job in the same field. Jake enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, fishing, and playing video games. He loved playing Dungeons and Dragons with his friends, and spending time with family, friends, and his dogs Cooper and Ronin.
Jacob will be deeply missed by his mother Joyce (Dave) Holmes; father Eric Rubright; sisters Kathryne Rubright and Hillary (Kaleb) Harlow; brother Landan (Tristan) Holmes; maternal grandmother Mildred McMahon; paternal grandmother Virginia Rubright; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephew, friends, and his police family.
Jacob was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Eugene McMahon and paternal grandfather Samuel Rubright.
Friends may call Monday December 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Hillcrest Chapel, Seville. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home (and livestreamed at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com/obituaries/Jacob-Rubright) with Chaplain Steven Holsenback and Pastor Jerry Fox officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.RobertsFuneralHome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Responder Bible Study Fellowship at 3959 Encell Dr, Copley, OH 44321.
