St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Notre Dame Catholic Church honoring the life of Jacqueline "Jackie" S. Bourda, 73, who passed away on June 21, 2025 at Lady of the Oaks Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday.
Fr. Abelardo Gabriel S.V.D., will officiate at the funeral mass.
Burial will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.
Jacqueline Smith Bourda, "Jackie" to many, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community. Jackie was born on December 18, 1951, in St. Martinville and spent her life dedicated to her family and her faith. As a devout Catholic, she was an active and faithful member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was also a member of the Drexel Society and the Red Hat Society.
Known for her generous spirit and infectious laughter, Jacqueline was an excellent cook and baker, and her talents brought joy to many family gatherings and church events. She was sweet and soft-spoken, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her family, especially her daughters and her grandchildren, were her world. Jackie will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Nefeteria Bellaire (Mandell) and Sentowskia Thomas (Ronald); six grandchildren, Willie Thomas, Jr., Christopher Thomas, Bytheah Thomas, Nericia Bourda, Natalia Bellaire and Nydia Bellaire; and two great grandchildren, Julien Bourda and Hazel Jordan.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Bourda; parents, Allen and Albertha Thomas Smith; and sisters, Patricia Green and Ursala Guillory.
