Jacqueline Ida (Symons) Laidler
On July 4th, 2025, our beloved Jackie was called home to be with the Lord. She lived a life rooted in faith, devoted to Christ and to the love and service of her family.
Born August 10th, 1931 in Gaines, MI. Was preceded in death by her parents Carroll and Hazel Symons, sister Bonnie (Symons) Baynum, and sons Kevin and Joseph Laidler. Jackie is survived by daughters Sheryl Miller, Lynette Keteyian, sons Brent Laidler, Donald Laidler, niece Janice (Baynum) Gifford, their spouses, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, who strive to carry on her legacy of faith and love. While we grieve her passing, we find solace in the hope of Christ's resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God's eternal kingdom.
As a mother, she raised her children in the ways of the Lord, teaching them to love, to serve, and to trust in Him. A living example of service in the church, she spent many years as organist, pianist, Sunday school teacher, friend, encourager and comforter to many. She found comfort in the promises of scripture, and now rests in the arms of her Savior, free from pain and sorrow, rejoicing in the presence of the Almighty.
A celebration of her life will be held with a graveside service at Memory Gardens in Tawas City, MI on Saturday July 19th at 11:00am. A luncheon for family and friends will take place following the memorial, where we will continue to celebrate her life, her memory, and rejoice in the promise of everlasting life. Details and location will be provided privately.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
As a lifelong musician, Jackie had a special place in her heart for music education. Her desire was that any memorial contributions, made on her behalf, would go to support the Tony Zamora Endowment. The Jazz Club of Lafayette funds and supports local Jazz performances, hosts clinics, jam sessions and awards an annual scholarship through a professionally judged jazz music performance competition of high school-age entrants from Tippecanoe and many surrounding counties, in the name of mentor, educator and jazz saxophone master Antonio "Tony" Zamora (1930-2020). The address is:
The Jazz Club
638 North Lafayette, IN. 47901
Please write: "Zamora for Jackie Laidler" in the memo space.
