Jacqueline McCullough Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 11, 2025.
Jacqueline "Jackie" Lea McCullough, age 82, of Platte, South Dakota, formerly of Clear Lake, Toronto, Hudson, and Sioux Falls, passed away on December 6, 2025.

Jackie was born on March 15, 1943, in Clear Lake, SD, to Millard "Jack" and Grace (Carlson) Huntzinger. She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, SD. She married Ronald "Ron" McCullough, Sr. on December 12, 1970, in Salina, Kansas. Together they raised three children: Larry, Kimberly, and Ronnie Jr.

Jackie was a woman of many talents and a boundless work ethic. While living in Toronto, SD, she owned her own ceramic business and operated a daycare that was adored by "her kids." After more than 20 years in Toronto, Jackie and Ron moved to Hudson, SD, where she worked at Bouwen Template Manufacturing and at the Sioux Falls Arena.

Frequent visits to Platte, SD, led them to relocate once again to be closer to their daughter. Jackie worked for many years at the Platte Landfill and later at the Platte Community Roller Skating Rink, where being surrounded by children skating filled her heart in a special way. Their energy and excitement brought new joy into her life, and she treasured the friendships and memories she made there before retiring at 80.

One of Jackie's greatest joys was trucking alongside her husband in their family business, McCullough Trucking. She cherished the years spent traveling the country, seeing new places, and sharing life on the open road with the man she loved. Jackie found peace in Bible study, bird watching, the outdoors, and camping. She adored yellow roses-bright, warm, and full of joy-just like her spirit. She loved laughing and playing jokes on her family, even when the jokes ended up being played on her. She had a special way of making her grandchildren feel loved-always saving the last slice of chocolate pie just for them. Above all, she treasured every moment spent with her family and friends.

Jackie was an enthusiastic fan of horse racing, the Minnesota Twins, and the Kansas City Chiefs. She delighted in puzzles and cherished the many puzzle-filled afternoons she shared with her dear friend Starlene. She also found comfort in Canasta with friends, sharing gentle laughter and easy company. Most importantly, she never missed an opportunity to cheer on her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren in all of their activities.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Pesicka and Ronnie (Donna) McCullough Jr.; siblings, Linda (Edward) Powderly, Susan Hagemeyer, and Gary (Tish) Huntzinger; brother-in-law, Jim McCullough; daughter-in-law, Darla McCullough; grandchildren, Angela, Wade (Catrina), Chris (Jessica), Ashley, JD, Casey (Jessica), Kristina (Nathon), Callie (Jake), Caleb, Jamie (Aaron); great-grandchildren, Alycia (Jake), Brenden, James, Rylee, Charlie, Jaxon, Presley; great-great-grandchildren, Esmé and Barrett; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald McCullough Sr.; her son, Larry McCullough; her parents, Millard and Grace Huntzinger; her sister, Anna Huntzinger; her father- and mother-in-law, Russell and Edna McCullough; sisters-in-law, Reva McCullough and Linda Huntzinger; and her son-in-law, Floyd Pesicka.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD.
