At 98 years of age, Jackie was called by our Lord and passed peacefully in her sleep before dawn on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 21 at 11:00 am, preceded by visitation starting at 10:00 am, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3003 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. Private burial following the service. The service will also be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend via concordiade.com.
Jacqueline was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on February 7, 1925, the only child of Walter & Martha (Mecklenberg) Krumm. She was baptized on March 8, 1925. After graduation from Sturgis (Michigan) High School in 1943, Jackie worked for the Kirsch Company in Sturgis as an office assistant.
Jackie married Robert James Scheetz on July 2, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis, Michigan.
She and Bob moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan so that he could attend the University of Michigan after his honorable discharge from the United States Navy. While there, Jackie worked for a local oil company to supplement their income.
Upon Bob's graduation from Michigan in 1950, they moved to Wilmington Delaware for his employment at the Dupont Company.
They became members of Concordia Lutheran Church at that time.
Throughout her life, Jackie devoted her time and passion to her church and her family. As the matriarch of her family, her life of faith and devotion that she exhibited to her children and grandchildren is instilled in all of us. She was the consummate wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She volunteered in the school libraries that her children attended, and served at Concordia Lutheran Church in many volunteer capacities over her 73 years of membership there. Her other interests/hobbies included mystery novels, songbirds, charcoal sketches and crossword puzzles. She was an avid fan of Michigan football, and her children's sports and music activities. Summers at Klinger Lake were some of her fondest memories.
Jackie was pre-deceased by her husband Bob in January 2001 after 53 years of marriage.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, eight grandchildren and their families, and five great-grandchildren:
Bonnie (Scheetz) Smith (Steve); Randall Scheetz (Lisa); Brian Scheetz (Barbara).
Stephanie (Smith) Cleary (Ryan); Robert Smith (Kelli); Jeremy Scheetz (Zaynah); Jordin Scheetz; Lauren (Scheetz) McFadden (Colin); Lindsay (Scheetz) Haji-Sheikh (Jesse); Garrett Scheetz; Rachel Scheetz.
Madeline Cleary, Catherine Cleary, Kinley Smith, Travis Smith, Cage Scheetz.
Jackie's family expresses their thanks and appreciation to the staff and care partners of Harbor Chase of Wilmington Assisted Living and Bayada Home Health.
