Jacqueline Jackie Shew

Jacqueline "Jackie" Shew, 93 of Fayetteville, NC went to be with her Lord on Friday,

November 7th, 2025.

Jacqueline was born on December 31, 1931, in Wilkes County, NC to the late Shirley

Roop and Eula Vivian Cockerham Roop

She met her husband John Shew and became a military wife. As a young military

couple, John and she traveled to Germany, Kentucky and eventually were stationed at

Fort Bragg, NC.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She found joy in sewing

beautiful things for her family, reading romance novels and doing puzzle books.

As a young woman before marriage, she worked for the RJ Reynolds Tobacco company

in Winston-Salem, NC. While raising her family in Fayetteville, NC she worked in many

jobs. She was a colorist at Olan Mills portrait studio. She worked for the Cumberland

County Schools. Her longest employment was at Purolator where she was employed for

more than 30 years.

She was predeceased by her husband John Shew and her son John Ricky Shew. She

is survived by her son James Shew (Crystal), daughter Janice Byrd, grandson Zachary

Shew, Sisters Terry Myers (Richard) and Judy Jones and many nieces and nephews.

Private memorial will be held at a later date.
