Candace Britt Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cape Fear Crematory, Inc. - Stedman on Feb. 23, 2026.
Candace Tew Britt, also known as Mimi, Granny and Candy, 74, of Hope Mills, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, in her home she shared with the love of her life. Born on April 15, 1951, in Hope Mills to Albert Erdman Tew and Viola Jewette Frye Tew, Candace lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to her family and friends.

Candace shared an extraordinary bond with her husband of 52½ years, Edward "Eddie" Britt. He was not only her partner but her soulmate, her world and the love of her life. Guided by their unwavering faith in God, their marriage was a testament to true devotion and respect-a sacred partnership built on trust, prayer, and an enduring love that inspired all who knew them. Together, they created a home that radiated love, warmth and welcome-a place where everyone felt like family.

She was the proud mother of two daughters: Carrie Nemec and her husband Joe of Summerville, South Carolina; and MacKenzie Sellars and her husband Ryan of Midland, North Carolina. Candace's heart overflowed with pride for her five grandchildren: Chynna Callahan and her husband Jonathan; Anton "AJ" Nemec; Brayden Sellars; Ansleigh Sellars-affectionately known as "her mini me." She also cherished several nieces and nephews as well as numerous children who adopted her and she embraced them as her own over the years.

Candace was predeceased by her beloved son David Ryan Britt; her parents Albert Erdman Tew and Viola Jewette Frye Tew; her brother Bruce Erdmon Tew; and her sister Nancy Delores Tew Madison. Though their loss left a void in her heart, she carried their memory with grace and strength throughout her life.

Known for her compassionate heart and genuine warmth, Candace had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. She never met a stranger-only friends she hadn't yet welcomed. Her home was always open to others, especially those in need of comfort or companionship, and it was continually filled with laughter and love. She had a beautiful sense of humor that brought joy to those around her; her laughter was both comforting and contagious, lighting every room she entered. Whether sharing a joke or offering a kind word, Candace had an innate gift for making people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.

Her family was at the very center of her world and her greatest joy in life. She took immense pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent surrounded by them. Her legacy is one of unconditional love-a gift she gave freely and abundantly to those closest to her and to all who were blessed to know her.

She found great comfort and joy in her church family, where she built lasting friendships and faithfully worshiped for many years. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she treasured the love and support of her church family. She was actively involved in her church community, forming meaningful, lifelong bonds through her servant's heart and unwavering devotion. Her warm spirit and generous nature made her a beloved member of her church family, whom she loved deeply in return.

Candace's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. May the warmth she shared continue to bring comfort to all who were touched by her kindness. Her Celebration of Life and visitation will be held at her home church, Hope Mills Pentecostal Holiness Church, located at 5855 Rockfish Road, Hope Mills, North Carolina. Visitation will take place on March 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m.
