Jacqueline "Jackie" Speed
January 2, 1953 – August 11, 2025
Jacqueline "Jackie" Speed, of Jacksonville, NC, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025 at LifePath Hospice House, Sun City, FL. Born on January 2, 1953, in Rhinebeck, New York, Jackie lived a life filled with love, generosity, and devotion to her family and friends.
Jackie loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren beyond words. She would do anything she could to help those she cared for and was happiest when surrounded by family. She enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, but also treasured quiet days spent at home with the people she loved most.
She is survived by her children: Rodney Speed Jr. of Florida, Sonia Speed of North Carolina, Amy (Bret) Rell of Florida, Clarice Schallenkamp of Florida, Renee (Michael) Stead of Florida, Wendy (Joshua) Choinsky of New York, and Joshua Speed of North Carolina. Jackie was a proud grandmother to Rebakah Tucker, Austin Speed, Zachary Speed, Dakota Speed, Brandon Speed, Sierra (Speed) Green, Kristin (Rell) Michelini, Bret Rell Jr., Paige Schallenkamp, Gina Schallenkamp, Parker Stead, Emily Stead, Hannah Stead, Aiden Choinsky, and Zoey Choinsky, and a beloved great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. Siblings: Kenneth Decker of New York, Philip Decker of New York and Peggy DiMare of Massachusetts.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rodney Speed Sr; her parents, Clarence and Luella Decker; and her siblings, Faye Culich, Beulah Combs, Donald Decker, and Clifford Decker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Fellowship Church in Fishhawk (15326 Fishhawk Blvd, Lithia, FL 33547) on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 2pm in building A. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Jackie and the love, strength, and kindness she shared throughout her life.
Jackie's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Romans 8:38-39
