Mrs. Jacquelyn E. “Jackie” Glenn Caldwell, 77, of Lexington, wife of the late William ‘Larry’ Caldwell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital with family at her side.
Jackie was born in Athens on August 28, 1947, and grew up in the Enterprise Community of Oglethorpe County attending Vesta Baptist Church and Burt’s Methodist Church. She was a 1965 graduate of Oglethorpe County High School, and married Larry the following year. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage until his death in 2003.
A hard working lady, Jackie held various jobs throughout her lifetime; however, her favorites were as a beautician and as a school bus driver for Oglethorpe County. She also enjoyed her work with the North East Georgia Job Training program helping high school students obtain summer jobs.
Jackie was one of the most selfless individuals one could ever meet, and always put her family, friends, and animals before herself. She was an extremely talented piano player who enjoyed music of all genres. Jackie was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, and most recently attended Vesta Baptist Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens, cross stitching, and sewing.
Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, John Robert Glenn and Zena Viola Tarpley Glenn.
Surviving are her children: Melanie (Andy) Clark and Ashley (Sabrina) Caldwell; brother, Johnny Glenn; grandchildren: Cody (Cristan) Johnson, Sam, Matt, Jessica, Christian, Casey, and Lacy; great-grandson, William Johnson; son-in-law, Jody (Kim) Johnson; and her cherished four-legged canine companion, Little Bit.
The family may be contacted at the residence of Cody and Cristan Johnson and will receive friends on Saturday, July 19, from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Jackie’s life will be celebrated during a funeral service on Sunday, July 20, at 2:00p.m. at Vesta Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church cemetery with Cody Johnson, Allen Bridges, Greg Caldwell, Jody Johnson, Brent Black, and Cody Boatwright honored as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include Marlon Caldwell, Kem Caldwell, Cameron Caldwell, Trevor Caldwell, and Blake Caldwell.
Flowers are accepted, and if desired, contributions may be made in Jackie’s memory to the animal shelter or rescue organization of one’s choice.
