Mrs. Jacquelyn Cannon Socha passed away peacefully at her residence Monday, September 29, 2025. She was 92. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 3, 11:00 am at Southlawn Cemetery & Mausoleum, Aiken, SC with Reverend Will Altman, St. John’s Methodist Church officiating.
Mrs. Socha (Jackie) was born in Laurens, SC, January 4, 1933, to the late Charles Babb Cannon, Senior, and Myrtle Maymie Griffin Cannon. She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Babb Cannon, Junior; (Aiken, SC), and her two sisters, Martha Elizabeth Parsons and Myrtle Griffin Cannon, both from Laurens, SC.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Cannon Kane (Aiken, SC) and her son, Jody Cannon Socha (Melissa) of O’Fallon, MO, and two grandchildren, Lilly and Emma Socha, also of O’Fallon, MO. The family will be forever grateful for Allison Rankin (Aiden), Molly Rankin, and Rene Ann Tewkesbury Brown (Scott) who loved Mom so very much.
Jackie graduated from Furman University, 1955 and received a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina, 1975. She was a retired schoolteacher having taught in Greer, Lamar, and Aiken, SC. She adored her students and received many awards while working in the public school system. Jackie was known for her boisterous and contagious laugh and had many neighbors whom she loved so much and became life-long friends.
Jackie enjoyed giving back to the community and was a “Pink Lady” for many years at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. She was an active member of St. John’s Methodist Church and taught Sunday school in both Lamar and Aiken, SC. She was an avid fan of college football and especially loved the Clemson Tigers.
