Redmon Funeral HomeSTOW - Jacquelyn Ann Vogel, 95, of Stow, died Friday, September 26, 2025.
She was married to Robert E. Vogel on December 26, 1950. The couple was together until his death in August of 2024. They will be mourned by a large extended family, including six children, thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. One grandchild, Ryanna Salberg, predeceased them.
Born to Joseph and Laura Pilot on Valentine’s Day in 1930, she grew up in Mansfield, Ohio, where she was graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1947. She moved to Stow in 1959. Her husband worked as an engineer at the Akron office of Ohio Edison. There with six children still in school, she started to attend Kent State University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1971 and her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling in 1980. She held several professional positions including social worker at Hawthornden State Hospital, executive director of the Cuyahoga Falls YWCA, and ended her career as a rehabilitation counselor for the Rehabilitation Services of Ohio where her primary focus was to help disabled persons find gainful employment. Throughout her lifetime, she also performed volunteer services for various organizations including the Girl Scouts of America, Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow and Akron General Medical Center.
Perhaps she was most proud and well-known for her life-long passion for sewing and quilting. She sewed clothing for herself, her children and her grandchildren. She fabricated quilts which were displayed at state level shows and events. A brief 1997 profile of her in the “Stow Sentry” newspaper described her history of sewing and her love of teaching others how to sew. A member and past-president of the local American Sewing Guild, she even participated in a group trip to France for a sewing and touring experience in her late 80s.
Her surviving children are Cliff and Teresa Vogel, Laura and Bill Riley, Audrey and Dana Hanscel, Mike and Debbie Vogel, Melody and Sam Davis, and Joy and Mark Salberg.

Jacquelyn Vogel prepared some written notes about her final wishes and instructions several years ago. At the end of them she wrote, “Say something nice about me.” Here it is . . . You touched so many lives with your boundless energy, enthusiasm and love. The world is a much poorer place with you not in it.
