Jacques "Jack" Eugene Simon, born to Viola and Lockhart Simon, was called home by our Lord on September 20, 2021. Jack left peacefully, knowing that his family loved him dearly to join his Father in Heaven. He was 86 years old.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Diane, and his children, Diane Fox (David), Steven Simon and Michael Simon (Kathy), his grandchildren, Hayden and Troy Fox, his brother Donald (Merry) Simon, and his nephews and niece, Timothy and Chris Rogers, Scott Simon and Shawn Voels.
Jack loved his Lord, his family, his church, golf, driving the tractor, the Detroit Tigers, U of M football and just about everything. He supported all that he touched.
He was a devoted Christian and dedicated member of Peace Lutheran Church in Shelby Township, MI, for 25 years, and Hope Lutheran in Bonita Springs for more than 20.
Jack began his career as a carpenter at George P. Johnson after serving time in the National Guard. He eventually purchased City Animation, an audio-visual company, which he and Diane grew from 2 employees to 25. After his retirement from City Animation in 2004, he and Diane moved to Bonita Springs, Florida. He worked at Mediterra Country Club in Naples and was the go-to-guy in the neighborhood when a closet remodel or any other general carpentry work was needed.
All who met Jack experienced the same – humility, kindness and an interest to help anyone. He was a loving and caring husband and father and always put family first. He loved to travel with his family and friends and took many trips within the states and abroad.
We cannot talk about Jack without mentioning his horse farm. He was passionate about raising, showing and riding his horses because, as many of us know, he always wanted to be a cowboy.
Jack had an undying love for Diane. Their story was more than "a little ditty" like John Cougar sings about. They loved to dance, dine, travel and watch sunsets. They did everything together and enjoyed each other to the fullest up until the last moments.
Jack loved his kids. Whether it was dancing in the living room with his daughter, or playing baseball with the boys, or riding and grooming horses with them all, he was always a hands-on dad. Some might say he had his "hands full" with his kids.
Like his father, he loved to tell stories and always remembered more details than anyone could imagine. The stories were never short, and we are all at a loss knowing we will not get to hear him share more.
Jack truly made a positive impact with all that had the fortune of knowing him.
