Jaime Kumar, 69, devoted father and beloved husband of Debra (Lantz) Kumar, went home to be with the Lord on December 31, 2025, in
Georgetown, Kentucky. Born on September 22, 1956, in
Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jaime was the son of the late Devendra and Lynn Curry Kumar. Jaime began his career at the University of Kentucky (UK) Medical Center as a phlebotomist. He later worked as a Systems Administrator and retired from UK Health Care after more than 30 years of service. During his retirement years he worked as a bus driver for Scott County Schools, a role he embraced with pride and compassion. He first began driving buses so he could follow and support his son while he played basketball and baseball, a reflection of his unwavering devotion as a father. Through this work, Jaime developed a special connection with children and took great joy in caring for and encouraging them each day. A man of deep faith, Jaime served as a priest for many years in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He shared his devotion through teaching, ministering, and spreading God's word, touching countless lives with his guidance and example. Jaime was a loving and supportive father who stood beside his children in every season of life, always encouraging them to follow their hearts and supporting the decisions they made. A true family man, he cherished time spent with his loved ones. He found joy in eating Indian food, watching sports, and coaching youth athletics. Jaime proudly coached his sons' baseball and basketball teams, creating lasting memories both on and off the field. Jaime will be remembered for his faith, kindness, dedication to family, and service to others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Besides his wife, he will be lovingly remembered by his two sons, Allen Devendra Kumar of Georgetown, Aram Trent Kumar (and his wife Autumn Hines) of Lexington; one daughter, Kaleena Lynn Kumar of Georgetown; two brothers, David (and wife Carol) Kumar of Virginia, Sanjay Kumar of Louisville; one sister, Purnima "Nimmi" Wiggins (and her husband Raymond "Randy" Timmons, ) of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Alden Alexander Kumar and Natalie Chastine Kumar. Besides his parents, he was proceeded in his passing by his son, Gavin James Kumar. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints 215 Wellington Way
Georgetown, KY at 1:00 PM with Bishop Nathan Perkes officiating. The burial will follow at Georgetown Cemetery with Allen Kumar, Aram Kumar, David Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Raymond Timmons, Bob Wiggins serving as pallbearers. Friends and family are encouraged to leave messages of condolences and memories here on Jaime's tribute wall.
