Robert Coots Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home on Jan. 16, 2026.
Robert Wilson Coots, a devoted father and cherished son, passed away on January 13, 2026, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on April 12, 1987, in Georgetown, Kentucky, to Jesse Coots and the late Rita Coots.

Robert was the proud and deeply devoted father of Alyssa Coots, the absolute center of his world and the greatest joy of his life. Their bond went far beyond that of a typical father and daughter - they were best friends, confidants, and each other's safe place. Robert poured his heart into loving Alyssa, guiding her, protecting her, and reminding her every single day how cherished she was. He often told her, "I love you to Pluto and back," a simple but powerful phrase that perfectly reflected the endless, unconditional love he had for her. To Robert, Alyssa was his greatest achievement, his light, and his reason for everything.

Robert worked as a maintenance technician for Enova Premier, where he was known not just for his strong work ethic, but for the way he treated everyone around him like family. He built lifelong friendships there and was the kind of coworker who would always show up, no matter what. His loyalty, reliability, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Outside of work, Robert had a heart that overflowed with love for animals. He shared a special, inseparable bond with his beloved dog, Nala, who was truly his best friend. Wherever Robert went, Nala was never far behind, and the love between them was unmistakable. His compassion extended even to the most misunderstood creatures - he cared for snakes, spiders, and other unique pets, seeing beauty and worth where others might not. That same compassion defined the way he treated people.

Robert had a zest for life that was impossible to ignore. He loved collecting antiques, pushing himself at the gym, and challenging his limits by running marathons. He lived with passion, curiosity, and determination, always striving to grow stronger in both body and spirit. His warm personality, contagious laughter, and famously terrible dad jokes could brighten any room and bring smiles to everyone around him.

But above all else, Robert will be remembered for his extraordinary heart. He was kind, generous, and endlessly giving - the kind of man who would help anyone in need without hesitation. His selflessness was evident in moments big and small, including the time he bravely saved a stranger from a car and stayed with him to ensure he received help. That was simply who Robert was: a protector, a helper, and a man who cared deeply about others.

Robert leaves behind a legacy of love that will never fade. He will be forever remembered for his big heart, his gentle spirit, and the unwavering devotion he had for his daughter Alyssa, his beloved dog Nala, and all those who were lucky enough to know him. His memory will continue to live on in the countless lives he touched and in the hearts that will forever carry his love.

In addition to his daughter Alyssa Coots and his father, Jesse Coots, Robert is lovingly remembered by his brother, Anthony (Billie) Coots of Georgetown; his sister, April Coots of South Carolina; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his very special daughter, Hailey Young, whom he claimed and loved with his whole heart.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rita Coots, whom he now joins in eternal peace.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. The funeral service with military honors will follow at 6:00 PM at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home.
