"The Mighty Viking" James Kenneth Aanderud (Jim) age 81 of Bethpage and formerly of Hendersonville passed away on April 30, 2025.
He was born in Portland, Oregon to Erwin and Lucille Aanderud on October 6, 1943. He grew up in Hoquiam, Washington on a cranberry farm. He was married to Dobbie Sue Hughes Aanderud on January 27, 1989. Jim was a proud Norwegian and was self employed as a general contractor all his life. His company Viking builders and Plumbing was located on Rockland Rd. in Hendersonville.
He had seven children with his first wife and has three step children that he raised with Dobbie. He was preceded in death by his parents Erwin and Lucille, a son Gregory, and a grandson Nicholas.
Jim is survived by his sister Patsy Nation and her husband Chuck of Hoquiam, WA, a brother Erwin Aanderud and wife Pat of Forks, WA, his son Kenny and wife Patricia of Palm Coast, FL., son, Joshua who lives in Arizona, daughters Lonna, Shannon, Tiffany, and Brittany who all live in Hendersonville, his wife Dobbie of Bethpage and her children Crystalyn and husband Billy of Hendersonville, Tim and his wife Amanda of Bethpage, and Jason of Hendersonville. He has 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Jim will truly be missed. A celebration of his Viking Life will be for family and close friends later this summer. We love you Pa.
