James Elmer Abner, 87, of Eubank, Kentucky passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at his residence.
He was born on January 29, 1938 to the late Otha & Flora (Brown) Abner in Grape, Kentucky. James had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, crafting, camping, and hunting. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. A man of faith, he attended Only Grace Church.
He is survived by his sons, Bobby Abner & Michael Abner; his daughters, Kim & (Ricky) Crowe and Debra & (Bennie) Godbey; a brother, Eugene Abner; sisters, Josephine Hester, Linda Manning, Phyllis Abner. Delores Keith, and Dorothy Foster; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth (Hartley) Abner; his second wife, Carolyn (Wood) Abner; his son, Larry Wilson; his daughters, Robin Abner, Janet Ward, and Ann Michau; his brothers, Ed Abner, Larry Abner, and Carl Abner; and his sisters, Jane Collins, Opal Kreshman, Shirley Burton, and Letha Barfield.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Joseph Young officiating.
Burial will be at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion Post#38.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until time for services.
