Jim was an outstanding friend and colleague. We still had so many joint projects planned. I cannot believe that he has gone. My deepest condolences to Jim's spouse and family.

That man made me laugh!

On July 19th, 1982 James P. Adamczyk, Roger A. Loomis and Vincent B. Sumpter started new careers together at Arthur Andersen & Co. in Chicago.
We had nothing in common other than being from a Big 10 school (Purdue, Illinois, Indiana) and we were Green Beans' starting at Arthur.
We formed a fast friendship the three of us. For two years, Jim and I shared an apartment until Roger and I bought a 4-flat together. We shared a work ethic and a desire to do good work.
Our lives didn't intersect as much over the years, but when they did, it was as if the time apart washed away.
Jim had that impact on people. His heart was big. And true. He was a man of great intellect. He advanced rapidly inside of Andersen (later known as Accenture) because of that intellect, hard work and drive. He famously broke' the Programmers Workbench because it didn't work right and didn't do what he knew it could do.
So, they put him in charge of it.
He was that guy. Smart. Driven. Saw things clearly while others equivocated.
With intelligence comes an ability to see things others don't. And often a wit to match.
He'd poke fun at the rest of us; and we at him. Always in the way some brothers do.
Some intelligent & witty people can't control themselves. Can't put others first.
That wasn't Jim. His integrity and internal compass led him put others first in many endeavors.
My first pass at this listed a number of the escapades we shared; now, it seems more appropriate to hold those times close.
I will think of you often Jim and will miss you every time.
Love,
-v

Jim is an icon of the Philippine software industry. He helped setup the Manila Advanced Systems Center in 1986, the first offshore resource center for AC/Accenture. That effort has now grown to provide high-tech professional careers for over 20,000 Filipinos!

Personally, I have the fondest memories of Jim as he was the one that welcomed me to Chicago in the winter of '85, and he mentored me on the IBM-RECD project which served as my introduction to the world of software engineering. I'll never forget how he chewed me out, as those were the times when I learned to push myself further and discover my potentials.

We reconnected recently on LinkedIn, and plans were made to meet, but nothing materialized, and I'm sorry I never got to meet you, Tom. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I am saddened. Jim was a good person and a fine neighbor. Far too young to leave us.

om, Michell and I are so saddened at the passing of Jim. As all who had even a small bit of connection with Jim would say; He was one of the good guys. Jim and I have known each other since we launched our Arthur Andersen careers in the early 1980s. Our bond grew to include you and Michell. We had fun meeting up with you and Jim. We are blessed to have you as friends. Tom, you too are one of the good guys and we pray for you to find comfort, Jim will be missed, which is a reflection on the impact he had on us. Jim, we pray you rest in peace. God bless you friend.

Tom and Jim's family, i am so saddened to hear about Jim's passing. He was the first Accenture (then Andersen Consulting) manager who guided me professionally when he was relocated to the Philippines. Over time, we became good friends. Sadly, I last heard from him when he mentioned that he had just met Tom. I will always have great memories of Jim as an old friend and co worker. Rest in peace Jim! In the Filipino tradition, I will be praying for Jim, Tom, and the rest of Jim's family for the next 9 days.

Jim was a big friend and mentor. He had a big impact on me personally and professionally. I will always remember his witty sense of humor, his kind soul, his wisdom.

We were in touch from time to time over the last few years. I was always interested in his projects, how he was doing. I always learned something every time we spoke. It reminded me of a formative time in my career.

Jim will be dearly missed. Goodbye my friend.

I will always remember Jim's robust laughter! We were roommates at Purdue freshman and sophomore years. We were in a suite freshman year with 10 roommates. There were many late study nights, Monday night football games, and great times at Wiley Hall. Jim reached out to me on messenger two years ago after my mother passed. I was very glad to hear from him. My prayers for you Tom and family. Jim made a lasting impression and he will be missed.
