James Aiello Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Abbey Cremation Service - Rocky Hill on Dec. 30, 2024.
James (Jim) Aiello, age 75 of Clinton, CT, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024 at
Gladeview Convalescent Home in Old Saybrook after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in New Haven on July 18, 1949 and grew up in East Haven. He graduated from East Haven High School in 1967. After graduation he attended The University of Hartford for 1 year. After his year in college Jim enlisted in the military serving with The United States Air Force in 1968. He was deployed to Vietnam and spent the next 4 years serving his country. After his time in the Air Force he attended The New Haven Academy of Business and received a degree in computer programming. He worked as a programmer for many years before changing careers. He went on to work at Mohegan Sun Casino in 1996 as a table games dealer until he retired in 2017. In his free time Jim spent 35 years umpiring little league and high school baseball. He was very involved in District 9 baseball where he umpired regional and state tournaments. Jim was fortunate enough to have umpired the softball big league world series in Kalamazoo MI and Fort Lauderdale Fl.
Jim loved the sport and was happiest being on the ball field. He also loved watching The Red Sox and was a proud UCONN basketball fan.
Jim is survived by his wife Lenora (Forchielli) Aiello of 51 years. They had a family home on
the water where they enjoyed watching their grandkids swim, fish and spend time with friends
and family on the boat. Jim is also survived by his daughters Jaime Jones and Michelle Winsor both of Clinton as well as his 4 grandkids Natalie, Jacob, Nora & Matthew. He loved his grandkids more than anything & was proud of all their accomplishments. He also leaves behind a sister Annarose Russo of East Haven & brother Frank Aiello of East Haven.
A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Mary's Church of the Visitation in Clinton CT on
January 18, at 11:00 followed by a burial service at Beaver Brook Cemetery. There will be a
Celebration of Life luncheon at St Mary's Church Hall for all family and friends immediately
following services. Jim was a proud veteran; the family asks in lieu of flowers a donation be
made to the local VFW.
