James Edwin Alexander, known to all as Jimmie, passed away of natural causes on September 26, 2025 at the age of 68 years old. Jimmie was born September 15, 1957 in Puerto Rico (where his father was stationed in the Air Force) to Janet (Payton) Alexander and Leroy Alexander Sr. Jimmie spent his early years at various bases, but ultimately grew up in Zanesville and Oxford, OH. Jimmie was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and brother, Lee Alexander.
Jimmie has left behind many loved ones: his longtime good friend and confidant, Lorene Fugate, his former wife, Barbara Alexander, two children Kemen (Amanda) Alexander and Jayme (Anthony Patton) Alexander, and 6 grandchildren, Kameron Tooson, twins: James and Jacob Alexander, Matthew Alexander, Ava Patton, and Jade Patton. Jimmie was the eldest of his six siblings: Leroy Alexander Jr., Debra (Alexander) Wallace, Maria Alexander, Nuri (Margo Alexander) Al-Saffat, Heather (Miller) Booker, and Mickey Alexander. He was uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Jimmie had many supportive friends including Kim Watts (Ms. Lorene’s daughter) and there was Cindy Brumit, who would take him regularly to play his numbers and bingo cards. Jimmie loved all things sports and played multiple sports in high school (Talawanda H.S.) and college (Grand Canyon University). Jimmie sometimes played for multiple teams at the same time, including track, basketball, and baseball. From time to time, he would talk about how he ran a marathon around Hueston Woods. His favorite teams were the Browns football team and the Reds baseball team. He absolutely did not like the Bengals. As the diehard Browns fan that he was, he often would tell stories of being the camera man at the Bengals games and rooting against them. As many know, for several years Jimmie was a camera man for Cincinnati’s Channel 5, working with the likes of Jerry Springer. Jimmie was proud of his career and proud of his family. He had a very strong sense of self and was strong willed, determined. Jimmie had a wonderful sense of humor and was just a fun spirit with a big heart. He will be terribly missed by so many. Memorial Services will be held October 18, 2025 @ 3pm at Faircreek Church (2400 Faircreek Ridge Dr. Fairborn, OH 45324). Repass will be served after the brief service.
