James Collin Allan, 90, of Mapleton passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15th, 2024.  He was born on the 13th of May, 1933, in Mapleton, Utah, to James Gartside Allan and Gwendolyn Williams Allan.  He married Peggie Bingham in 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Upon marriage, he and Peggie built a home across the street from the home he was born in and lived there for the rest of his life.  As a dedicated member of the LDS church he served 10 years as Bishop over three wards, 17 years as a High Councilman, and 9 years in the Stake Presidency.

Collin grew up hunting, fishing and working the family farm with his dad and his brother Evan.  Among his many accomplishments and were: graduation from Springville High in 1951, a two year LDS mission in the Hawaiian Islands and double major degrees in accounting and mathematics from BYU, and a Utah State Championship in trap shooting in 1966, 6 time Stake M-Men All-Star basketball player and 2 time Region 8 M-Men all Star basketball player.  He worked at Utah Savings and Loan, BYU and First Security Bank where he started the Springville branch, then managed the Spanish Fork Branch and finished as supervisor of the 10 branches in the southern portion of Utah.

Among his other accomplishments were running a busy part-time farm throughout his life, 6 years on the Utah State Wildlife Board, a Grand Slam of North American Wild Sheep, President of the Down Town Coaches Club, (predecessor to the Cougar Club), 12 years on the Mapleton City Council, 9 years on the Mapleton Planning Commission, 30 years on the Nebo School District Board, 24 years as a trustee for the Utah High School Activities Association, Director of Chambers of Commerce for Provo, Springville and Spanish Fork, Board of Directors of Rock Canyon Bank, and unofficial lifetime Predator Control Agent for the greater Mapleton area.

Collin is survived by his wife Peggie; five children, Scott E. & Catherine Allan of Twin Falls, Idaho; Marian Allan of Lynnwood, Washington; Clark C. Allan of Douglas Wyoming; Leisel Allan of Mapleton, Utah; and Melinda Frandsen of Sandy, Utah; 16 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brother Evan who gave his life to the cause of freedom as a heavy bomber pilot in WWII; his grandson Phillip, and great grandchildren Noah and Goldie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Mapleton Stake Center located at 970 North 400 East, Mapleton, Utah. A viewing for friends and family will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mapleton Wheeler Mortuary located at 82 West 400 North, Mapleton, Utah, and on Saturday prior to the service from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Stake Center.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
