We celebrate the life of James Allen Cox, which was tragically cut short by the Covid-19 global pandemic on October 28th 2021. Born on December 6th 1955, to a working class family in Cincinnati Ohio, Jimmy was a pillar of support for all who knew him. He was a proud working man. He was a devoted husband of 47 years to his wife Debbie, who is the love of his life. He is a dedicated father to his sons Eric and Matthew, and a fun and protective grandpa to his five grandchildren Tiffany, Taylor, Tara, Kristyn and Eric. To his best friend in the whole world, his great granddaughter Ava, he was overjoyed to have her in his life. He was an uncle to many, who care for him deeply. He was a loving son to Robert and Hilda, and loved growing up on Hillside with his siblings Timmy, Brenda, Dave and Tommy.
Jimmy has more friends than could be counted, who all knew him as dependable, loyal, honest and fair. He is known by many loving names, Coxy, Coxface, JC, Daddy, Grandpa, Uncle Jim, Pa'pal, and Big Guy. Most importantly, he was known by all for being a genuinely great man. He was a strong supporter of workers' rights, for the safety of children and those with disabilities. As a steel worker union representative, he fought for fairness and respect in the workplace. He taught those around him what it meant to be a man. He gave of himself to help all those around him. His shoes can never be filled, and there is no replacement for his big strong hands. His sarcasm cut through like butter, and he loved to laugh. He enjoyed shooting guns, playing pool, fishing, rock & roll, and considered himself a rebel at heart. After 65 years of life, he has left his earthly struggles behind and he is knocking on heaven's door. He will be forever loved and held in our hearts.
Visitation will be Friday, November, 5th from 5 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. at Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, Westwood (3155 Harrison Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45211). Saturday, November 6th, family will receive friends from 9 am until 10 am with burial to follow at Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
