James Ammons Obituary

FRANKLIN - James "JR" Ralph Ammons, 95, went to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 1, 2025, surrounded by his family.
JR was born in Macon County to the late Ralph Richard and Edith Faye Hughes Ammons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ethel Roper Ammons. She was the love of his life, and they are now walking those streets of gold together. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Faye Needham, Earl Ammons, Loretta Moore and Anita Bateman.
He was a member of Cartoogechaye Baptist Church and the local Masonic Lodge. JR proudly served as a corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He is survived by his daughters, Tava (Bruce) Mason and Sandra Ammons; grandchildren, Seth Mason, Marissa (Phillip) Gray and Cody (Tiffany) Stanley; great-grandchildren, Auby, Gwen and Ethan Gray; and several nieces and nephews.
No services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shriners Children Hospital.
