James Amodeo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home on Dec. 11, 2025.
James "Jimbo" Amodeo, 62, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away peacefully with family on December 6, 2025, under the care of Hope Hospice of Cape Coral. Born on May 27, 1963, in Bethesda, MD he was the son of Patricia and Carmine "Skip" Amodeo.

Jim was raised in Maryland and moved to Naples, FL when he was 12, he went on to graduate from Barron Collier School. Jim worked for Publix Super Market as a Meat Manager for 28 years, he found great pleasure in working hard and was proud of his time spent with Publix.

Jim was someone who found joy in the simple things in life, he loved to drink a cold Coors Light while grilling on his front porch listening to music. He was an avid Nascar fan and loved to attend the Daytona 500 races with friends and family. Jim was the life of the party, there is no better way to describe him, if you were with him you were having fun. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Janet Amodeo who he loved with all of his heart and missed tremendously after her passing in 2007. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his fun loving, easy going spirit. Those who knew him best called him "Jimbo" a term of endearment given to him by his Mother, he was the youngest of 6 siblings who were all very close, he found no greater joy than spending time with his family.

His fun loving spirit will live on through his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched. He will be missed beyond measure, but we will cheers to him everytime we open an ice cold beer, because that is what he would have wanted.

Jim is survived by his daughter Jessica (Austin) Morelli, son Douglas Cole, grandson Douglas (Sean) Mahaffy, Tanner Thompson, granddaughter Taylor (Dalton) Ward, Tessa Cole, and 5 great grandchildren, brother Michael (Judy) Amodeo, Kevin (Holly) Amodeo, sister Cheryl (Jim) Fitzgerald, Geri (Jim) Masterson. He is predeceased by his wife Janet Amodeo, Mother Patricia Amodeo, Father Carmine "Skip" Amodeo, and brother William "Billy" Amodeo.

A private celebration of life will be held in Jim's honor.
