James Anderson

James Edward Anderson, age 95, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center after a few months stay at Summit Place of Anderson.
Born September 4, 1928, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late James Paul Anderson and Aretta Blume Anderson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty Jo Anderson, whom he loved so dearly and took exceptional care of while she was in memory care at Summit Place of Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, William Roy Anderson and Charles Paul Anderson; and sisters, Ruth Paul and Evelyn Shaw.
James was a veteran of the United States Navy and was retired from Duke Power. He was a faithful member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. A few of his favorite things were playing Rummikub, eating out (especially Skins' Hotdogs and Mama Penn's), and camping on Lake Hartwell. James had a memory like a hawk and had very detailed remembrances of a life well lived. He never met a stranger and was "just the sweetest man". He loved his family well and was a devoted father.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Gayle A. Sanders; brother, Harold Ray Anderson (Vickie); grandchildren, Traci Shinnick (Peter) and Jill Lewison (Larry); great grandchildren, Anna, Rachel, Elijah, Benjamin, Ella, and Katie; and great-great grandchildren, Elsie and Janie.
The family will receive friends Monday, June 3, 2024, from 1:00-2:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Tom Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
